The drink was never the point.

We make great cocktails easier, so there’s more time for the people, conversations, and moments that made you pour one in the first place.

What is the point of a cocktail?

Josh Seaburg
Model Citizen founder, creator of Fast Fashion cocktail base, and award winning bartender.

To welcome each other—not just into our homes or restaurants, but into the moment itself.

Or maybe it’s an excuse to linger. To say yes to one more round of conversation, which inevitably becomes three or four.

Sometimes it’s a way to celebrate. The ritual clink that marks the milestones of our lives: a hard-earned promotion, a long-awaited proposal, or the friend reunion that (miraculously) made it out of the group chat.

For some of us, it’s simply a chance to unwind. To take one moment for ourselves at the end of an endless day, and enjoy being alive in our easychair.

The cocktail, ultimately, was meant to anchor our moments. What it was never meant to do was complicate them.

Founded by award-winning bartender Josh Seaburg, Model Citizen Cocktail Supply was born from a simple belief: Everyone should be able to enjoy a great cocktail. Instead of closely-guarded recipes and complicated techniques, Josh poured himself into making cocktails more accessible—transforming over 15 years behind the bar into a brand built on expertise without ego, hospitality without pretension, and an open invitation for everyone to pull up a barstool.

Model Citizen bottled that philosophy with Fast Fashion, a “bartender in a bottle” that helps libation lovers and laymen alike make a professional-quality Old Fashioned—just add your favorite whiskey. Or anything else you like. Fast Fashion gives you a high-quality, perfectly balanced foundation to make an Old Fashioned that’s authentically your own, while eliminating the guesswork, prep, and inconsistency that often gets in the way. All in less time than it takes to find a corkscrew.

Whether you’re hosting friends, tending bar, or simply pouring yourself a well-earned Old Fashioned at the end of the day, our goal is the same: to give you more time for the people, conversations, and moments you poured the drink for in the first place.

Come see us in the wild.

Our Downtown Norfolk shop is part cocktail supply store, part tasting room, and a pretty good place to talk drinks.

Find Model Citizen inside Selden Market at 208 E. Main Street in Downtown Norfolk, where we keep the shelves stocked with Fast Fashion, thoughtfully chosen barware, glassware, mixers, bitters, and other things worth making room for on your bar cart. Stop in for a taste, ask us entirely too many cocktail questions, or join us for one of our seasonal classes and tasting experiences. Whether you know your way around a jigger or are just figuring out which end is up, you’re welcome here.
